William Dempsey Elder, 87, passed away Oct. 19, 2015 peacefully at his home with his wife Mary by his side.
Dempsey is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Elder; his daughter, Sharon Wisdom; his son, Mike (Jenny) Elder; three grandchildren; and many friends.
Dempsey was born in Louisville, KY on March 10, 1928. In 1946 he joined the Navy and served as a machinist mate. After an Honorable discharge in 1950, he moved to California and worked at Lockheed for many years. Upon retirement, his love of fishing drew them to American Falls, Idaho; however, he quickly discovered the reservoir did not have his favorite types of fish.
Dempsey like traveling and being part of Good Sams. He also enjoyed morning walks around town stopping in for coffee and conversation at local businesses. He was an avid reader and a volunteer at the Senior Center. Dempsey loved to joke around and always had a smile on his face.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, Oct. 27 from 11:00-11:45 at Davis-Rose Mortuary, 170 Idaho St. in American Falls with a graveside service at Noon at Falls View Cemetery. A meal will follow the service at the Power County Senior Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Power County Senior Center.
