Scott Poulson

June 25, 1957 — August 1, 2024

Pocatello

Scott Ellis Poulson, long time resident of Aberdeen, Idaho, passed away at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 1, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 67 years old.

Scott was born in American Falls, Idaho on June 25, 1957, to Shirley and Jackman Poulson, the third of seven children. His early days consisted of working on the farm alongside his brothers, sisters, and parents. He graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1975 and went on to serve a 2-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Switzerland. He loved serving the people, sharing the gospel, and bearing testimony of Jesus Christ. Scott attended BYU Provo where he met his wife, Dianne. Shortly after getting married, they moved back to Aberdeen, and spent the next 43 years farming and raising their family. During those years he was earnestly involved in Scouting and served as a Bishop, Stake President, and Service Mission Leader for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He also was blessed to serve on the Pocatello Temple Open House Committee, inviting youth from southern Idaho to clear the temple sight. He truly loved to serve and do the Lord’s work.

Scott was a devoted husband and father. His friendly demeanor and smile could brighten anyone’s day. He loved to learn and improve, and never gave up on anything he set his mind to do. Some of his favorite pastimes were spending time with his family, tending his farm, building and fixing things, water skiing, snow skiing, and cycling. He was admired by many, a hero to his children, and strived to exemplify Christ-like love.

Scott is survived by his wife, Dianne, his 7 children, Derek (Kristi) Poulson, Emily Vickery, Erin (Adam) Fanello, Ashley (Mark) Allen, Austin (Tara) Poulson, Ian Poulson, Aspen Poulson, and 23 grandchildren.

A visitation will be from 6:00–8:00 p.m. on Thursday August 8 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Aberdeen (149 W Central Ave.). A second viewing will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Friday August 9, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 2925 Michelle St. (2925 Michelle St, Pocatello).
