Odell Lawrence Perkins, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend died with his boots on the evening of Sunday March 11, 2018 in Chesterfield, Idaho. Odell was born to Maurice and Klea Perkins November 6th 1942 in Chesterfield Idaho. He was the third of 8 Children.
In school as a young man he enjoyed playing football and wrestling while at home he enjoyed the usual mischief a household with 6 boys will engage in. He grew up working and playing on the family farm. When he came of age, and due to a miraculous healing, he was able to serve an honorable full-time mission in the Great Northwestern Mission for the LDS church.
Odell was married to his sweetheart Karen Lee Kelly on the 14th of August 1967 and later sealed in the Idaho Falls temple for time and all eternity. Together they had six children that they raised in Salt Lake City, Utah
Odell and Karen owned and managed a service station in South Salt Lake where he was able to teach his children the value of work. He also ran a successful firewood business that kept the whole family busy during the winter cutting and delivering firewood. In 2000 Karen and Odell sold their business in Salt Lake and moved to New Harmony, Utah where they operated another service station as well as farming in the area. After spending a few years in New Harmony they returned home to Idaho to farm and ranch, first in Arbon Valley, then in Chesterfield.
Odell loved spending time with his family and showing his kids and grandkids how to run the farm equipment. He loved working and was blessed with the strength to continue running his farm until the very day he passed away. Odell also enjoyed working at the Logan, Utah temple.
Odell was proceeded in death by his parents, daughter Sherylyn and two brothers DeLos and Leon. He is survived by his wife Karen; Children Justin (Sabrina), Jared, Klea (Chris) Black, Jathan, Joshua; 11 grandchildren and siblings Wayne (Lapreal), Rondo, Marsha Smith, Zandra and Claylon (Shanna).
We will all greatly miss his loving kindness, polite manner and wonderful sense of humor and fun. He was quick to laugh and quick to serve. His was a life, well lived.
A visitation will be from 6-7:30 PM Friday, March 16, 2018 at the LDS Church at 1001 Stalker Rd. Bancroft (Chesterfield), Idaho. Another visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 AM with the Funeral starting at 11AM at the church.
