Nancy Anderson

May 5, 1938 — October 5, 2024

American Falls

The greatest lady ever, Nancy Leona Anderson peacefully passed away at her home in Neeley, Idaho on Saturday, October 5, 2024. Nancy was born in American Falls, Idaho, on April 5, 1938, to Don Zaring and Leona Boyd Zaring. She attended elementary, junior high and high School, in American Falls, graduating with the class of 1955.

At the young age of sixteen she met the love of her life in front of the Iris Theatre. On November 13, 1955 after a short courtship, they were married at the Methodist Church. Their first home was in the Sterling area raising sugar beets and sheep. After a short time, they moved to Neeley to farm, ranch, and help her family raising cattle, hay, potatoes, and wheat. This is where they would make their forever home and had their four children.

As a non-traditional student, Nancy went on to attend Idaho State University taking various classes with Sociology being her favorite. Not surprising as she loved people (our little social butterfly). Working as a dedicated stay at home mom not only did, she care for her children but many neighborhood children as well. As her children grew, she started working as a part time secretary for Farm Bureau Insurance. Eventually, she went to work for the Idaho State Liquor Dispensary. She managed several stores for thirty-two years. For mom, at the age of sixty-seven, it was a difficult decision for her to finally retire because of her fondness of people.

After retiring, she exchanged her 40-hour work week to a 60-hour work week --- splitting her time between playing cards, QVC shopping network, penny slots and her family (in that order). Throughout her life, mom was involved and had a passion for many activities that included the Power County Pink Ladies Auxiliary, Power County election worker for over sixty years, New Knowledge Adventures through Idaho State University, a former Methodist church secretary and women’s group. She also loved her card clubs that she attended weekly (Pinochle and Hand and Foot.) Of those of you that knew her, you knew she would cook for all and was a notorious food pusher (which she would never admit). Nancy loved all animals; her cats and dogs were very special but she enjoyed watching little racoons and even skunks eat up her cat food. Her favorite of all was the role of a mom, grandmother and most of all great grandmother and friend. She was everyone’s “Grandma Nancy.”

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Gary), son, Don. Her grandchildren Katie (Andy), Kyle (Michelle), Scott (Ashley) and great grandchildren, Adelia, Aubrynn, Tate, Rett, Amree and Cooper and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members, friends, and neighbors.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Leona Zaring, siblings Richard Zaring and Alice Roy. She was also preceded in death by her husband Lyle, sons Mathew Lyle and Michael, her daughter in law, Jeanne and her grandson, Matthew Don.

There will be a committal prayer at Falls View Cemetery on Friday, October 11th at 11:00 am followed by a celebration of life at the Mill House Event Center, 2792 Pocatello Avenue from 12:00 to 2:00.

As a family, we are little prejudice because she was our little mother but she was a great example of how life should be lived. Work hard, play hard, in your heart do what is right and most of all love unconditionally. We will love and miss you always. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Power County Pink Ladies.
