Michael Eugene West

Michael Eugene West of Mackay, Idaho, died at Lost River Hospital in Arco, on March, 17^th 2012 after a brief illness due to cancer.

Born September 30^th, 1939   to David West and Ruth Brinkley West in Caldwell, Idaho.  Mike was the oldest  of two children and has a sister, Judy.

Mike married Roberta Smit in 1959. . Mike lost his first wife, Roberta, to cancer in 1993.  They had three children. Lon E West (Erica), Mark L West (Chris), and Cindy West, all of Pocatello, Idaho.  From this family he has three grandsons David J West, Tyler L West, and Bridger E West.  He also leaves behind one terrific ex daughter in law Tracy Beaton.

Mike remarried in 2005 to LuAnn Simms giving him two stepdaughters Laura Hall and Kelly (Nick) Bird and six step grandchildren, Nick and JD Hall, Hailey, Lexi, Ashton and Zoey Bird.

Mike loved to travel, boating, fishing, hunting, camping, guns, horses, and the whole outdoors. He served six years in the Air Guard Reserves and many positions for Lamb Weston for over 40 years. Mike was a licensed electrician, an EMT and instructor, and Power County Deputy for 7 Years.

The mountains were his church and we will miss him greatly. There will be a viewing at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday March 20, 2012 at Davis-Rose Mortuary 170 Idaho St. American Falls, Idaho.  The graveside service will follow at 12 noon at Falls View Cemetery, American Falls.
