Melvin married Marta Elaine Stein in Dec. 1974. His step children were David, Kary, Latoya, Alan, Derric, Sharell, and Kevin. They divorced in 1984.
Melvin married Michelle(Parsons) Haney on Sept. 24, 1996. They had Kristina (stillborn), Melody and Mark. They were married until Melâs death on July 7, 2015.
Melvin was a very kind and loving man. He loved visiting with everyone. He enjoyed going to coffee with the men. He loved talking about growing up on the Haney Ranch. He would be so proud when he talked about running horses with his father. He enjoyed spending time with his brothers. He loved to go hunting and fishing with them. He always talked about perfect spots for hunting, fishing and camping. He was a very talented gardener. He enjoyed playing with his sisters too. Mel and all of his brothers and sisters enjoyed spending time together.
Melvin was a member of the Aberdeen Legion. He was so proud to help with funerals and encouraged people to come to the meetings.
Melvin loved reading. Once he started reading it was difficult for him to stop. He was a cowboy. You rarely saw him without his cowboy hats.
He planted a rose bush every year. There was not a plant he couldnât identify.
Every night before he went to bed he would go outside and look up at the stars.
Melvin and Michelle have resided in Blackfoot and Sterling. In later years he was assistant coach for his son Markâs basketball team and helped his daughter train and take care of the horses.
He is survived by his wife Michelle of Sterling, children Tina, David, Kary, Latoya, Alan, Derric, Sharell, Kevin, Melody and Mark. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Kristina Clover, his son Gregory Maurice, his brother Darwin, and his ex-wife Marta Elaine Stein.
