Melvin Austin Clark Sr., born on December 30, 1933, in Logan, Utah, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, in Pocatello, Idaho. He lived a life rich with love, service, and laughter, leaving behind a cherished legacy.
Melvin dedicated 42 years to his career at FMC, where he was known for his hard work and dedication. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life; he proudly served two years of active duty in the United States Army, from 1954-1956, after the Korean War, spending part of his service in Puerto Rico.
His marriage to Hazel spanned an incredible 70 years, during which they raised eight children together in a warm and loving home. Their family was the cornerstone of Melvin's life, and he took great pride in the values they instilled in their children. Together, Melvin and Hazel also served a meaningful two-year mission at the Bishop's Store House and Cannery, demonstrating their devotion to their faith and community.
Melvin had varied interests that brought him joy. He loved fishing, hunting, and camping, even if his adventures were brief. Each year, he dedicated time to raising a garden, humorously claiming it would be his last. Together with Hazel, they enjoyed canning the harvest and often shared the abundant fruits of their labor with neighbors.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Hazel, and their children: Melvin Jr. (Connie), Deborah, Janice, Micheal, Lawrence (Jill), John, Steven (Amber), and Keven (Jeane). Melvin was a proud grandfather of 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, delighting in their accomplishments and the joy they brought to his life.
Melvin leaves behind fond memories, including countless trips to the DI, where he enjoyed the thrill of hunting for treasures. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Martha Clark; his brother, Lawrence; and his sisters: Lela, Gwenever, Audria, Lois, Myrtle, and Norma.
