Margaret Rizer

February 23, 1946 — February 22, 2025

Pocatello

Margaret Merandia Rizer, affectionately known as Peggy, was born on February 23, 1946, and left this world peacefully while sleeping on February 22, 2025. With her passing just a day shy of her birthday, she leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and countless cherished memories.

Peggy devoted over two decades of her life working for the State of Idaho, with previous roles in the state of Oregon and Ohio, demonstrating her unwavering commitment and dedication throughout her career. Her education was rooted in Ohio, where she embarked on a journey that would ultimately weave her deep into the fabric of her community and family.

Family was the heart of Peggy’s existence. She is survived by her loving son, Walter Leroy Rizer (Lee) and his wife Carolyn of Lewisville, Texas, her daughter Nova Robinson and her husband Fred of Groveland, Idaho, and her daughter Tonya Leslie and her husband Lonnie of Pocatello, Idaho. She was the proud grandmother to fourteen grandchildren and a great grandmother to thirty-seven great-grandchildren along with one great-great grandson. Each of them brought immense joy to her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Peggy had an extraordinary ability to connect with people, encompassing a playful spirit and a heart that embraced those with special needs. She was a devout Christian who loved sharing fellowship with her church friends, often filling the air with her joyous singing of hymns. Peggy was an avid crafter, enjoying pursuits like knitting hats for newborns at the hospital, while her love for arts and crafts kept her creativity alive. This devotion to creativity was parallel to her fulfillment in organizing family get-togethers, where laughter and love overflowed.

Her ability to make everyone feel welcome created warm spaces in her home where many found solace and comfort. If you ever needed a comfy spot, you could find it on Nana's lap; she was always up for new adventures and treasured these moments with her grandchildren. Game days with her grandkids—Felicia, Dylan, Nicole, Aiden, Skye, Paige, and Charlie—were highlights of her later years, as she relished the joy and laughter shared during those gatherings.

Peggy had a remarkable gift for giving. She never met a stranger, always offering gifts to her grandkids and great-grandchildren that filled her heart with happiness. Her love for reading her Bible reflected her deep spiritual roots, illuminating the way she approached life with genuine faith and love.

Peggy’s proudest accomplishments were as simple yet profound as baking birthday cakes for her family and being the type of person who would give the shirt off her back for those she loved. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Lee Rizer; their son Robert Lee Rizer; a grandchild; great granddaughter; and her siblings, who surely welcomed her with open arms.

The impact of her warm spirit will be felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A visitation in her honor will take place on February 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Powerhouse Christian Fellowship in American Falls, Idaho. Peggy's love, laughter, and light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends.
