Kay Behrend

Kay Marie Behrend, 75, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2025, after a long battle with dementia. She was born on December 23, 1949, in American Falls, Idaho, to Ray and May Pratt.

Kay was raised in Aberdeen, Idaho, where she attended grade school, junior high, and high school, graduating in 1968. Growing up on the family farm, she learned the value of hard work from a young age.

She met her husband, Danny Behrend, in kindergarten, and they remained friends throughout high school, only realizing their love for one another after graduation. They married in July of 1973 and built a beautiful life together, raising four children—two sons and two daughters. Kay’s greatest joy was being a devoted wife and mother.

Kay and Danny shared a love for golf, dining out, and going to the movies. She cherished summertime and the adventures it brought with family and friends. She was an incredible cook, always ready to share a warm meal with anyone in need. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family will forever be remembered.

Kay was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served diligently in many callings throughout her life. Her faith was a guiding light, and she found great joy in serving others through her church and community.

Kay is survived by her four children: Jason (Lori) Behrend, Cody (Sarah) Behrend, Kam (Kyle) Schneider, and Jenny (Jameson) Nelson; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her sister, Donna Mayer; and her brother, Bryce Pratt. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Danny Behrend, her parents, Ray and May Pratt, and her brother, Joe Pratt.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the Aberdeen LDS Church, with a viewing at 10:00 AM and the service at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will follow at the Aberdeen Cemetery.

Kay’s warmth, love, faith, and selfless spirit will be deeply missed, but her legacy of kindness and service will live on in all who knew her.
