K. Kim Phillips

K. Kim Phillips, 52, of American Falls passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2011.  He was born October 14, 1958 in North Bend, Oregon to Keith and Donna Phillips. The family moved to American Falls in 1970. 

Kim’s passion for farming began at the early age of five when he joined his dad and uncles driving the tractor. After graduating from college Kim farmed his own land and raised ostriches with his brother Kevin. Later Kim was the manager at County Line Farms.  His other passion was Harley-Davidson motorcycles.  Taking a break from the farm he would wear his cap and sunglasses and zoom on down the road on his Harley Rocker.  During the fall Kim enjoyed steelhead fishing. He is also known for his amazing craftsmanship and working with his hands. 

After graduating from American Falls High School in 1976, Kim attended Ricks College where he earned a degree in Farm Business Management.  While at Ricks College he became best friends with and then sealed to Joan Baird on July 7, 1982 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Kim was a member of the LDS Church and served a mission in Washington DC.

Kim will be missed by his loving wife, Joan; children Kelly (Jessie), Cody (Cierra),  Shanelle and Tia; grandchildren Kamryn, Jordyn, and Caleb; parents Keith and Donna; siblings Kerry (Rhonda), Kevin (Tania), Kara (Mark), Jennifer (Rob), and Jeff (Jamie); in-laws Richard and Darlene Baird, Mike (Nancy) Baird, Jim (Chandra) Baird, Barbara (Lonnie) Lewis, Daniel Baird and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was predeceased by his grandparents Don and Janet Vanderford and his grandfather Leonard Phillips.

There will be a viewing Sunday 6-7:30 pm @ LDS Stake Center, 111 Church Place, American Falls.  The viewing preceding the funeral will be Monday 10-10:45 am @ LDS Stake Center.  The funeral will follow at 11 am.  Burial will be in the Aberdeen Cemetery.
