Joy Ann Mayer, 67, of Aberdeen, Idaho, was called back to heaven on Thursday February 2nd, 2023. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and a friend to many who all loved her. She was very loved and will be very much missed.
Joy was born August 13th, 1955, to Blanche Reed and Calvin Wilson Sr., in Burley, Idaho. She was a mother of three children, Grant, Kelly, and Melisa. In 1978 she went to work for J.R. Simplot for 32 years in Aberdeen. Due to heath reasons, in 2010, she retired. She loved gardening, bowling, listening to music, and spending time with her daughter and grandchildren.
Joy spent most of her life in Aberdeen. She received her education in Burley, Pocatello, and Blackfoot. Joy worked as a QA Auditor at Simplot, she came to make a lot of friends while working there, it was like another family to her. In 1991 she bought her first home and continued to raiser her family and grandchildren there. From 1991 to 2000 she loved gardening in the orchard just west of her home. She had plum, apple, peach, and cherry trees. She grew corn, peas, beans, carrots, and onions. It was a labor of love.
Joy is survived by her children, daughter Melisa Ann (Martin) Coon of American Falls, sons Grant Wilson of Orofino, and Kelly Wilson of Pocatello. Her grandchildren Lexy Coon of Aberdeen, Cody Coon of American Falls, Jake Wilson of Blackfoot, Airik Wilson of Blackfoot, Blake Wilson of Gooding, Elizabeth Wilson of Gooding, and Jareth Wilson of Pocatello. She is also survived by three brothers, Jose Elquezabal Jr. (Pam) of Aberdeen, Jay Wilson (Charlette) of Pocatello, and Calvin Wilson Jr. of Nampa, and her brother-in-law Owen Young of Pingree, Stepfather Marten Elquezabal of Aberdeen and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Blanche Elquezabal, her father Calvin Wilson Sr., sister-in-law Janet Wilson, her brother John Wilson, her siter Brenda Young, and her first husband Daniel Harris.
A visitation will be from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday February 7th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Aberdeen. A celebration of life will follow, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Aberdeen Cemetery, at a later date, due to weather conditions.
