IFelix “Joe” Clarence DeLaCruz Died Saturday December 7, 2024, surrounded, by family and friends.
Born December 30, 1975, to Lavonne and Felix DeLaCruz in American Falls, Idaho. He came into this world as a little shit and left this world as a big shit. (HIS WORDS). He held several jobs from working on cars, to working in potato warehouses, to welding, to shoveling grain, and driving truck. He had a passion for building square bodies and driving semi. He lived an adventurous, crazy life with a lot of ups and downs. He loved his family more than anything.
He went by so many names it was so easy to confuse someone if you wanted. Felix went by Joe, Cruz, Lil Bear, dad. The day he signed the papers to officially become the boy's dad, he cried. He wanted nothing more than to have his own children. He was an amazing dad. His love for children was surpassed by none throughout his entire life. He was a protector from the day he was born. No underdog would ever be hurt or bullied as long as he was around. His heart was the biggest I ever knew.
He was very direct; you were either in his life or out but never in-between. He spoke his mind with no concern. His bluntness, need to make one smile, laugh, get out of their head or just break the silence always came unexpectedly even though we should have known it was coming. He took time to think things through and approach with a calm, cool head in his later years. Not so much in his younger years.
His love of tools, guns, and buckets became comical in our home. He never went to town without bringing home a bucket, a trip to harbor freight, and a stop at a gun shop. Even on his last days he was trying to get me to buy more so he could shoot them when he bounced back. If you have been to our home, you know our entire house and yard had become a garage. He always joked about building an engine in our living room. We are going to make that happen.
He has left behind so many family and friends. He held each one of you dearly. The visits, laughter, wire stripping, rides and time
spent with you each was valued by him and treasured by us all.
Survived by his dad Felix DeLaCruz and step mom Mary Lou DeLaCruz, his step dad Jose Elquezabal (Pam), his brother Brock Elquezabal (Skyler), sister Ramona DeLaCruz, sister MiKayla (Drew), his wife Elizabeth DeLaCruz, his children Gabriel, Cameron, Adam, Marie, Jeremiah, Tim (Jaymee) Turner, Amanda (Brandon) Misner, Melissa (Christian) Smith, Tanya (Miguel) Guzman, William (Alexis) O'Grady, Kaitlin Jones, Justin and multiple grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his sister Mikia Rojas, mother Lavonne Elquezabal, his grandparents Doris and Charles Amos, Hilda Serrano, and Felix DeLaCruz.
We are truly grateful for all the help and love that has poured out this past year. We would like to say a very big thank you to John Hayhurst, Dave Jump, and all those on his hospice team, especially Annique and Shelie. We could not have done this last year without you all.
