James Jon Huber

December 27, 1971 — March 6, 2025

American Falls

James Jon Huber, 53, of American Falls ID passed away March 6th, 2025 after a sudden illness. He peacefully left this earth, hands being held by his mother and his sister, surrounded by all who loved him. Although leaving this world kicking and screaming would have been more his style. He did things his way, after all. Born December 27th,1971 to Nancy Huber and William Christensen, James raised heck around American Falls, making friends with all he met. In his early 20s, he married Melinda Vollmer. They later divorced. James worked at many places around American Falls and Pocatello and was just a jack of all trades. He was always a friendly face to run into, especially at the convenience stores he worked for. For a time he shared his life with Angela Little, a wonderful woman who would later be godmother to James’s first nephew, Evan. They eventually went their own way, but she remained part of the family. In his later years, he would go on to marry the absolute love of his life Shawn Clouser. They made it official on July 22nd, 2011 and spent their honeymoon together floating the river in their wedding clothes. They had many years of marriage together before Shawn fell ill and passed away in 2021. Brokenhearted, he just never got over losing her. She was truly his other half. James had many hobbies, but his favorite thing to do was sing karaoke. He was spot on for Patsy Cline and loved Louis Armstrong. He loved to tell jokes to make you laugh. He was one of the most kind hearted, warm, and most sensitive people you could have met. He absolutely loved camping, fishing, and his two cats more than anything. He leaves behind the most incredible legacy, as he was the most incredible son, brother, husband, and uncle ever. The void he leaves in our hearts will be impossible to fill, but we know how much he loved us all and that we loved him. James was preceded in death by his beloved wife Shawn Valarie Huber and his grandparents, Gottlieb and Emma Huber and his Uncle John Max Huber. He is survived by his parents, Nancy and Jim Glarborg, of Aberdeen ID, Uncle Bill (Diane) Huber, of American Falls ID, Father William Christensen of Oregon, Sister Becky (Joe) Gallegos of American Falls, ID, Aunts MaryAnn and Linett Christensen, both of Pocatello ID, Nephews Evan (Sami) Gallegos-Viles and Michael Gallegos, Nieces Sarah Gallegos and Harley Gallegos, all of American Falls, as well as many more Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, and Nephews and countless friends. True to what James would have wanted, no services will be held. A graveside service will be announced for later this spring when James and his beloved Shawn will be laid to rest together. The family of James would like to thank the amazing team at Portneuf Medical Center, especially the ICU, for the exceptional care they gave him in the end. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Pocatello Animal Shelter, adopt a cat, go camping, and simply live life YOUR way. To use a quote that would be befitting to our wonderful James, “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, “Wow! What a ride!” - Hunter S. Thompson. We will forever miss you. It’s not goodbye, just simply, see you later.
