Jaden N. Schenk died early Thursday, October 6, 2011 from an accident while camping with his friends near American Falls. In his short 16 years, Jaden lived a lifetime. Not only was he wise beyond his years, but he thoroughly enjoyed every minute of his life and lived it to the fullest. Jaden was “Mr. Personality” and had a charisma that was truly magnetic.
Jaden was born in Burley, Idaho on January 9, 1995. He is the oldest son of Nathan J. Schenk, and Tracy and Rusty Sirwaitis. Jaden was nominated at the age of 11, to be a Student Ambassador for People to People and traveled to Hawaii for 3 weeks. He attended school in American Falls until 2008. While in American Falls he played baseball for several years and 1 year of football. Jaden attended school in Bountiful, Utah for 2 ½ years. At the age of 14 years, he traveled to China for 2 weeks with a group a student from his school. Jaden proudly wore the number 13 while playing football for 3 years and played lacrosse for 2 years bearing the numbers 13 and 33, where he was voted MVP on his lacrosse team. Jaden was involved in jazz band and played the saxaphone. He loved snowboarding and continually had a season pass to Park City. Jaden moved to Pocatello last year and was a junior at Pocatello High School. Since moving to Pocatello he enjoyed dirt biking and wakeboarding. Jaden was very proud to be a member of the “Wolf Pack” (a special group of friends that he called his brothers). He worked part-time as a server at Wingers while attending school. Jaden was baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was actively involved in scouting and was Deacons’ quorum president when he was 12.
Jaden is survived by his parents: Nathan J. Schenk, and Tracy and Rusty Sirwaitis. Siblings: Cozette Teiberis, Andrew Schenk, Chandler Schenk, Kennedy and Christopher Sirwaitis. Paternal grandparents Billy Joe VanDyke Jr and Nancy Schenk and maternal grandparents Ronald Miller and BarDee Miller. Uncles and aunts: Eric (Rick) Miller, Greg (Sandy) Miller, Kristi (Bill) Lasley, Nicole (Christian) Drake II, TwylaAnn VanDyke, Brandy VanDyke and, Laura VanDyke and numerous cousins.
Jaden was recently involved in a scooter accident which helped his family and friends realize how precious life is. It gave us the opportunity to express how much we all love him. Our hearts are broken. He will be forever missed.
The family will be available for visitation at the LDS stake center (111 Church Place) in American Falls on Sunday October 9th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday October 10th at 11 a.m. at the church, with a short visitation prior to funeral services from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Graveside service at Falls View Cemetery.
