Elda Harmison, 85, of American Falls passed away January 25, 2011 at the home of her daughter after a lingering illness surrounded by her loving family. She was under the care of Creekside Hospice.
Elda was born in Smoot, Wyoming on August 27, 1925 to Alma Andrew Jensen and Mildred Crook Jensen. She was one of 12 children. She grew up in Smoot and later moved to Salt lake City, Utah where she met the love of her life John Heber Harmison who was from Star Valley. They were married on June 15, 1945. They were married 62 years until John passed away in July 2007. John and Elda were sealed in the LDS Temple in 1964. She was a member all her life and served in many callings.
Three children were born to this marriage, Sharon (Fred, deceased) Roberts, Kathy (Terry) Gull, Aberdeen and Steve Harmison, American Falls. She loved and enjoyed children and babies, so when she got to baby-sit her grandchildren she was so happy.
Elda worked at numerous jobs in her life. She and John owned Roger’s Café with his brother and wife. When they sold it she worked at Lamb Weston for 17 years and then the USDA until she retired. She was a very talented lady and loved sewing and all kinds of crafts. Many people were the recipient of her crafts and they will be treasured for many years to come.
Elda is survived by her three children, three brothers and their wives, two sisters-in-law, six grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband, six brothers, two sisters, one grandson and one great grandson.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 111 Church Place, American Falls. There will be a visitation Friday, January 28, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Davis-Rose Mortuary, 170 Idaho Street, American Falls and Saturday before the funeral from 11:45 to 12:45 p.m. at the church.
