Don Steed

April 10, 1962 — June 23, 2022

With a heavy heart, the family announces that Don Lamar Steed Jr. has passed away.  On June 21st, 2022.  Don was called home to his Heavenly Father.

Don was born in the early morning hours of April 10th, 1962 to Ronnie Renie Smith (deceased) and Don Lamar Steed Sr. (deceased).  He was raised by his grandmother Emma Louise Stacey (deceased) and was there to help care for her when she passed away.

Don worked as a four-star chef or as a carpenter for most of his life.  He had an immense talent for both.  During his young adult years, he set up for famous bands in Boise, Idaho and got to meet Ozzy, Tesla, Ratt, and many others.  He last worked for Ken’s Food Market in American Falls, Idaho, where his easy smile, hard work, and very unique sense of humor was well known.

Don eventually moved to Pocatello, ID and enjoyed a quiet, peaceful life, in his little trailer with his cat named Duck.  Don loved fishing, camping, spending time with his grandchildren, and being outdoors.  His favorite place in the world was on the fishing docks below the American Falls dam, or out to East Fork, or Cold Creek.  He was a talented artist and drew sketches of these areas.  Don was often seen going for his “walks” around Pocatello.   He never failed to stop and appreciate the small things like smelling the roses or watching a sunset.  He was known for saying “don’t sweat the small stuff.”

Don was preceded in death by his grandmother Louise Stacey, both his mother Ronnie Renie Smith, and his father Don Lamar Steed Jr. and his cat Gigs.

He is survived by his daughter, April Dawn Steed, his son Jason M. Cunningham, and his adopted daughter Monica (Nathan) Perez; his brother Darren Jay Steed (Chenda), his brother Dusty Davidson (Jocylynn), his sister Tia Eaton, his sister Toni Kay McLean (Jason), many nieces, nephew, cousins, and eight grandchildren.

Don was a hard man with a heart of gold.  He was loved and will be missed by many.

We will be honoring Don's wishes by spreading his ashes at the American Falls dam in his favorite fishing hole.

We would like to invite all of Don's loved ones to join us in celebrating his life at Three Layer Park in American Falls on August 13th at 2 p.m.
