DeLon (Lon) Teeter was taken from us on Saturday, September 17th by a logging accident while enjoying the great outdoors with many members of his family. He was 64 years old. While his unexpected passing fills us with sorrow, we are left with a lifetime of memories of this truly loving father and husband, brother, caring uncle, and dedicated friend.
To his children, family, and friends, Lon was a source of strength and unwavering support. Following the loss of his wife, Maureen, Lon dedicated himself to being the best father possible to his children. Whether it was a birthday party in Boise, a round of golf in American Falls, or a weekend of chores at the family cabin near Stanley, Lon was a constant and welcome presence in the lives of everyone who knew him.
Another important part of Lon's life was his commitment to the Idaho Department of Fish & Game. He spent 30 years as an officer protecting the many natural resources that help make Idaho great. His love of nature and commitment to the education of future and current sportsmen is a lasting legacy that will continue to protect our wilderness and the species that live there for years to come.
Lon was a man who was comfortable in both silence and conversation, but he was always there with an open heart and an open mind. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. Lon will be missed by his family, friends and those who knew him.
Delon Teeter is survived by his daughter KaLauni Teeter, daughter Katie (Mark) Mitchell, son Kelly (Jamie) Teeter, son Tracy (Megan) Teeter, brother Rob (Kitty) Teeter and dear friend Evelyn Michaelson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the AF Men’s Golf Association for course improvement at the American Falls Golf Course or American Red Cross.
Friends and family are invited to celebration Lon’s life on Friday September 23, 2011 from 6:30-8:30 pm at the American Falls Golf Course. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 7:30p.m. at the golf course Club house.
