Emblem

In loving memory of Brent Hoffer, a man whose life was a testament to love, laughter, and a deep dedication to his family.  Brent passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Aberdeen, Idaho, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and cherished memories.

Brent was born on December 6, 1951, in American Falls, Idaho, and he spent his life spreading joy to all those around him.  After graduating high school, he pursued his passion for forestry at the University of Idaho before bravely serving in the United States Navy for four years.  Following his military service, he furthered his education and obtained a machinist certificate from Idaho State University.

Throughout his career, Brent worked at the University of Idaho Experiment station and J.R. Simplot, where he made lasting connections with colleagues and friends.  He will be remembered for his dedication to his work and his joyful spirit that brightened the lives of those around him.

Brent's true pride and joy were his family.  He is survived by his devoted wife Laura Hoffer; son Bretton (Gina); daughter Angela (Josh) Johnston; daughter-in-law Tammy, former daughter-in-law Lacy Lehman, former son-in-law Eric Perez; siblings: Lloyd (Marilyn), Terry (Carolyn), Dallas (Sandy), Marsha (Merle) Friesen, Sandra (Russel) Knapp, and Randy (Galena); as well as his ten grandchildren who brought immeasurable happiness into his life.  He is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Helen Hoffer, and son Chris.

Known for his love of animals, reading books, and exploring new cultures through travel, Brent's warm personality touched everyone he met. His laughter filled the room, and he treasured every moment spent playing with his grandchildren.

The fondest memories of Brent include the twinkle in his eye as he shared stories with loved ones and the unwavering love he showed towards his family. His proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry on his legacy of love and laughter.

A visitation will be held on March 12, 2024, at First Mennonite Church in Aberdeen from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  These services are an opportunity for family and friends to come together to celebrate Brent's remarkable life.

In honoring the memory of Brent Hoffer, we find solace in knowing that his spirit will live on through the cherished moments we shared with him.  May he rest in peace knowing that he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
